Lovebirds set for romantic island honeymoon

Newlyweds Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are expected to fly out to Fiji or the south Pacific island of Bora Bora for their honeymoon today.

Media have staked out the airport in anticipation of the arrival of the star couple who were married in an intimate ceremony at Sydney’s Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel yesterday.

During the reception in front of 230 family and friends, Keith Urban grabbed his guitar and sang 'Memories of Us' to his new bride.

There was not a dry eye in the house.

Kidman cried as she listened to the serenade and she was not alone, with guests also getting caught up in the moment.

The reception, in a giant marquee erected in the grounds of St Patrick's estate was attended by actor Hugh Jackman, who sang the Peter Allen classic 'Tenterfield Saddler', actor Russell Crowe and his wife Danielle Spencer, Rupert Murdoch and Wendi Deng, Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch, Baz Luhrmann, Naomi Watts and journalists Peter Overton and Jessica Rowe.

Rowe, a presenter on the Nine Network's Today, said the evening was beautiful.

"It was sensational, it was so beautiful, I felt privileged to be there," she said.

"I thought Nicole looked absolutely stunning. She looked ethereal."

She said Urban, 38, had surprised the guests by singing 'Memories of Us' to his bride, who is a year older.

"Everyone was sitting round at their tables and he just walked up onto the stage unannounced and pulled out his guitar and sang this beautiful song.

"I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. She cried, everyone cried."

After the reception, the couple returned to their harbourside apartment.

The wedding attracted huge attention, with up to 1000 media and fans on Sunday lining the streets to the estate.

Kidman wore a flowing one-shouldered Balenciaga gown and pearl drop earrings.

It was Urban's first marriage.

Kidman and Tom Cruise divorced in 2001 after 10 years of marriage.
